My name is Paul and I’m a SQL Server DBA. I have worked with SQL Server in some capacity or other for over 7 years, and as a full-time DBA for almost 5 years now. I’ve worked with every SQL Server version since SQL 2000, and have performed upgrades and migrations for a number of different versions, though at present I primarily work with SQL 2016+ and Azure SQL DB.

In my job, I work to support a busy OLTP system and perform a variety of tasks, dealing with all of the typical production DBA duties such as backups, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as looking at how to optimize our database queries and procedures, and how to improve our processes generally.

Throughout the years I’ve found the content published throughout the SQL Community to be invaluable in helping me to learn and solve problems, and I hope that by writing this blog I can help others in the same way.
